Segway | How does a Segway work?
Segway

Segway

A segway has five built-in gyroscopes. When you stand on the platform, you tend to lean forwards or backwards.

This means that you rock on a rotational axis on one or more of the gyroscopes.

The gyroscopes resist your movement. They want to keep their movement unchanged and the electronics recalculate this ‘resistance’ to send steering signals for the wheels.

The gyroscopes are therefore used to keep the segways balanced in an upright position.
